My Dogtertjie het onlangs begin danslesse neem.
DD started dancing lessons recently. She has to wear a uniform, consisting out of a ballet leotard and a tutu. It was a nightmare to get hold of the uniform, but at last we do have one, albeit second hand. I also went to our thrift store and found another leotard and a dress with a net skirt, which I bought to use the net for a tutu.
I removed the skirt from the shirt and further removed the netting from the petty coat. The netting was sewn in 3 strips so I removed each strip separately. In the photo I have started sizing up the netting to see how I could sew it all back together again. I had the elastic at home already.
It took me 3 tries before I got the waistband right. (I am used to patchwork and quilting, not costumes LOL). I took the petty coat and cut a wide strip from it, stitched it together and on the final try managed to get the elastic band through. The previous 2 turns I cut the strip to narrow.
Then I sewed the 3 strips of netting together and attached all of that to the waistband. In retrospect...next time I will first sew everything together and then add the elastic band in last...
Now DD has another skirt to dance in!

Projekte tydens ons afsonderingsperiode
Hallo daar!
Hi there! I am so happy to be able to sit behind my pc and write a blog post. I had to play many roles since our lockdown started, from 20 March to now, which left me overwhelmed and busy. I did not have a lot of time for sewing, but these are the projects I have been busy with...
3. After this, I decided to take on a project that I have been wanting to do for years - the kids' Memory Quilts. I kept there clothes up to the age of 18 months just for this project. DD is my youngest and is now 4, so it is time for the clothes to be processed. The clothes that will be left over after the project, will be donated to charity.
Tans word my naalwerk area hoofsaaklik as my tuis kantoor gebruik, so ek spandeer nie baie tyd aan my naalwerk nie. Hopelik sal dit binne-kort verander.
Tot later!
My sewing area is currently being used as a home office, so I am not spending much time on sewing. That will hopefully change soon.
Until later!

1. Maskers (natuurlik) / Masks (off course)
2 Die kinders se kwilte / The kids' quilts
DD's quilt. Each of them could chose their own backing. She chose Paw Patrol, so I did the quilting with meandering and "doggy treats"
Here is the finished quilt on her bed.
DS's quilt. He chose Minions for his backing. I chose to quilt leaves for this quilt, as it fitted the theme of the fabric (jungle) as well as the outfits of the Minions.

Volgende 6 DJ blokke klaar
I finsihed 6 more DJ blocks. Slowly the quilt is starting to get shape. The theme for these blocks (except 1) is fuzzy cutting and applique. I didn't plan on doing applique yet. I wanted to leave it for last as I find applique to go quickly. But, after challenging myself (see my previous post) to do G11 (Blue block with dogs and bows), I guess the bug just bit too hard LOL
I broke my own rule with the pink block: "don't stitch when you are tired". I quickly assembled the block 23:00 at night, just to discover I had my triangles the wrong way around. The next morning I corrected that...
In the meantime I made a new bag for my pegs. The old one started to disintegrate. I didn't use a pattern but I did use the size of the old bag as a reference.

Dear Jane vordering
I have 6 more blocks and triangles finished of my DJ quilt. I am very excited about the yellow star block. The center just screamed for a fuzzy cut picture ;)
This is the diagram, as per the book, from which I am working. Here is my progress and the pieces sewn together.
Sal ek G-11 volgende doen?
Shall I do G-11 next? Then I shall have made a block in each row and column LOL

Dear Jane Materiale
Originally I wanted to stay within the sew along monthly packages, as I received them from the BOM program. But I have now realised that there are some fabrics that suits other blocks better, which doesn't necessarily fall within that particular month's package. So I have changed strategy and have grouped the fabrics by colour. This also gives me a better idea of what is available.
While I was sorting the fabrics, I took photos and counted the pieces. In the colour groups, this is where I stand:
- Red 22 Pieces plus 1 duplicate
- Orange 11 Pieces plus 2 duplicates
- Yellow 17 Pieces plus 2 duplicates
- Green 44 Pieces plus 5 duplicates
- Blue 39 Pieces plus 7 duplicates
- Pink 33 Pieces plus 1 duplicate
- Purple 20 Pieces plus 3 duplicates
- Total of 207 Pieces (excluding the white fabric)
I am not sure why I have so many green and blue fabric and so little orange. I also would have thought that to make 225 blocks and triangles, I would need 225 pieces of fabric...mind you, it is fat 8's, so you can make 2 patterns from one piece of fabric, depending on the pattern.
This is the white/background fabric. The green/brown fabric at the bottom is what I want to use for the backing and binding.

Bloggers BOM Bokant Klaar
Happy New Year to everyone!
The top of the Bloggers BOM quilt is finished. I added the coloured border this afternoon. The size is now about 44.5" x 54.5".
I find myself in a peculiar position where I have 2 quilt tops finished and waiting for batting and backing. Normally I work in such a way that I finish one quilt at a time...I must admit that I am enjoying the feeling :)
Now I can return to my DJ and Embroidery Christmas Quilt.
