While tropical storm Calvinia is causing havoc outside, there is no better reason than to stay inside and quilt :) I am still waiting for DS's fabric to arrive, so I started working on DD's quilt.

Originally I wanted to use the same pattern as that of DS's quilt, but I soon realised that if I add 4 more blocks to the Bloggers BOM project, the quilt will be big enough for her. So that is exactly what I did.

Here are all the blocks laid out, before I added the new blocks.

I kept to the original concept and made 2 of each block. These blocks come from the Farmers Wife quilt, which will also be in the pipeline one day.

A bit of layout designing, a few hours behind the machine, lots of hours trying to find a border design, and this is what the quilt looks like at the moment.

I am very happy that I decided to add a narrow white border first, before adding a coloured border and then a narrow white border again. Originally I wanted to add gold coloured fabric, but it didn't work so well with the rest of the quilt. It was then that I started looking around for ideas for the border.

If the weather is still bad tomorrow, I will continue on this quilt, otherwise it will be later this week.

  1. Great to see you are working on and finishing this BOM. Good idea to make it into two and great choice on the white border. Can't wait to see both finished. Looks like Calvinia is still stationary, expect a quilting day tomorrow too! :)
